Bought as a kit from Hélène at the Icelandic Knitter website. I have had to buy another ball of the Black MC though (luckily in the UK), despite getting perfect gauge. OK, I knitted the sleeves longer, but I would have run out after the first sleeve knitting to the given measurements. I didn’t need the second ball of the grey, but it was very close… so I can understand why 2 balls of grey were in the kit.
Mods: sleeves less narrow (decreased every 6th row to 54sts) and also longer (to 16”). Sleeve decrease round = k1, ssk, knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1.
Also I knitted a row of eyelet holes (k1tbl, YO, p2tog) in the neck ribbing for the twisted cord; it seemed logical to do this, rather than forcing the cord through the ribbing.
Yarn: the Einrum has a strand of silk running through the Icelandic wool; I’m not totally convinced about the combo, but it does give a nice sheen to the yarn - although oddly enough, that doesn’t happen with the Black shade, ?almost like it takes the dye differently … but overall it still makes for a nice airy sort of fabric.
FO: this is great! I feared it might be too poncho-esque (ie difficult to fit under a coat) but it definitely works as a pullover, lovely and lightweight in the Icelandic wool. I also feared, with the silk content, that it might grow when washed; but it definitely hasn’t and has blocked easily to the given measurements. I truly love these colours and the volcanic-ash-effect of the stripes/feather-and-fan pattern. Also love it with the twisted cord: the neckline isn’t actually over-wide, but the cord is a nice finish (and I’m rather proud as I haven’t made one before ).
Absolutely thinking of making another very soon…
