I knit this cowl in the round with a stockinette base, knitting rows of simple yarn-over eyelets every 15th row until it was as big as I thought it should be.
The alpaca was just a bit too rough for my liking to be worn so closely around the neck so after sitting in my closet for one year (yes, you read that right - it sat in my closet for a full year while I tried to decide what to do with it), I decided it needed a lining to make it not just softer, but also warmer for the winter. That’s when I remembered I had two skeins of a 75% angora, 25% merino yarn that I had bought at the same time. I picked up and knitted each stitch on the bind off of the cowl, knit in the round in stockinette until the lining was just as long as the cowl itself, and then bound off while at the same time picking up and knitting together stitches from the other end of the cowl.
I can’t begin to tell you how incredibly comfortable this cowl is now - nice and toasty warm and so soft I never want to take it off!
Someone is going to be quite pleased once they purchase this from my etsy store, with scarlet!
