Swatching

First swatch was 24 stitches over 4.5 inches on size 4 needle after a wet block (not really blocked).
I will try a second swatch on size 3 needle and decide.

The swatch in the size 3 needle met gauge so working the body on size 3 and the ribbing on size 2.5.

Change of Color

Got into the colorwork and decided it was my tension was off/it was a little puckery so pulled it out.

I also started to wonder if I should use all mYak because the other two yarns for the colorwork weren’t as open and springy as the mYak so there was even more difference between them….pulled them out too.

Will start over with mYak (even tho I love these colors….). Went for a periwinkle for CC1 and navy for CC2. Happy with the new colors.

I struggled with tension in the long stranded sections. Had to really slow down and pull the stitches open on the needles to let the floats get long enough. The tension in that section is more open than the single color knitting below it but it is better this way than the reverse.

Float mitigation; I tried to catch the longer floats without it showing on the front side.
Also the mYak is a little grabby so I believe the floats will felt in a little so hopin

Finishing the Body (July 10, 2024)

Switched to a size 4 needle to bind off the bottom of the sweater in pattern.

I had looked into a tubular bind off, but since the bottom is MC2 I didn’t want to lengthen that color stripe so just upped the needle size and it seems to be working out okay.

August 19, 2024

Slowed this down - who wants a pile of yarn in their lap in the summer?

I finished the first sleeve and when I came to the second the holes at the edge of the cast on were annoying me, so I looked up a method to reduce/eliminate them and liked it. I had to adapt it a little because the instructions don’t quite match (where the sleeve cast on differs), and it worked well.

MDK/Ask Patty Seamless Sweater, No Holes

January 1, 2025

Didn’t want to go into 2025 with this as a WIP!

I am happy with the color work, learned a lot about how to do it with this pattern. The fit is pretty good. Loose around the waist--maybe I should have decreased after the bust but….overall it’s a comfy boxy fit.

The neckline is pretty open but I like the look of it without the extra neck finishing so leaving it.

Now curious what I will do with the leftover mYak
