I started this project with the back. I had already made several projects using the Jack’s Back stripe and I really like the pattern. I chose a set of rainbow colors and knit the back about 15 or 20 years ago. The project sat for a long time before I figured out what to do for the fronts. I finally decided on the diagonal stripe pattern and started working on that. This is one of the those projects that requires a hundred balls of yarn all in a big box or all over the couch, so I have to pack it up and put it away and then get it out again to work on it. I work on it now and then over the years.
Recently I attended YarnCamp in Frankfurt and I wanted to do a session on Kaffe Fassett knits, so I pulled out a lot of my half-finished projects to use as demonstration material. I got so excited looking at this project that I decided to try to finish it now. Yesterday I completed the first front, pressed the back and front and took a picture with the front covering the back. I’ll start working on the other front next.
I’m going to try to post some more of my Kaffe Fassett projects in the next few weeks on Ravelry. You can also see some photos of my projects on http://www.blog.dwass.org or http://www.dwass.org/david.html
Update 19.Oct.2013:
The second front is done! Shoulder seams sewn. The 2 fronts came out quite different in length, so I blocked the whole thing for a few days. Armhole bands knit. Now I just need to knit the front facing and tack it all down. Will definitely be done this year :-)
Update 28.Jan.2015:
Fibally finished! I got involved in too many other projects and had to put this one aside for awhile. Well, for another year ;-) But today I finally got all the hems tacked down and enough of the loose ends woven in or snipped so that I can finally wear it! I’m so happy I could dance :-D
