Yay! Cables!

Knit the cuff, leg, and heel flap with US 1.5 needles. Usually I do socks with the magic loop method, but this time I thought I’d knit them on two circs so that I could easily transition to smaller needles for the sole stitches once I reached that point.

For the heel turn, gusset, and sole stitches only, I changed to US 1 (2.25 mm) needles -- kept the US 1.5 (2.5 mm) for the instep.

This gusset is a little different -- I really like how it looks -- but I messed up the first couple of rounds while I was fumbling around with the two sets of needles. I thought for a moment that I was losing it, but by the third round I had figured out my error and how to right it. Thank heavens. (And no, I didn’t go back and fix my boo-boos; I can live with them). The second sock ought to go a bit smoother.

Not sure why the colors look different in the progress picture: they’re the same dye lot and sure look alike to me in person. Weird.

3-26: One sock completed -- now onward to the heel flap, gusset and foot of the second sock.

3-27: It’s almost midnight and I can’t knit no mo. One pattern repeat to go and the toe. Woo hoo! Tomorrow they’ll be done.
