This throw was knit for a very special friend.
Ultra Alpaca wasn’t an ideal yarn for this project, as it grows and grows and grows and is tough to get gauge in this pattern. But it has nice colors, and that was that. After going down 4 needle sizes --- and I usually knit to the suggested gauge --- I got close enough for my Block 8.
During the process of blocking the individual squares, MANY of the colors bled, so this isn’t going to be washable at all. Dry clean only.
A large group of knitters made 35 squares for this throw in the pattern squares: #1, 4, 5, 8, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16 placed variously in a 5 x 7 throw. Another team crocheted it together at the completion of the squares. There were knitters of every experience level, from rank beginners to experienced old hands. Everyone did a gauge swatch! Dymph will be proud! Everyone had restarted at least three times, and some had a very difficult time with their squares, but in the end, everyone finished on time and learned a new skill. What a victory indeed!
