Finally making this lovely pattern we received at FisherFolk 2016, the Net Loft in Cordova, Alaska; it was gifted to us in our goodie bags. And making it with some Kate Davies yarn I’ve had in stash for awhile. A win-win.
My stranded knitting is, well, awful. My New Year resolution was to learn to do it well. This is a start to that promise to myself. ![:slightly_smiling_face: slightly_smiling_face](https://style-cdn.ravelrycache.com/images/twemoji/1f642.png)
Provisional cast on: I used Judy’s Magic Cast on, and left the second set of needles live … easier to unzip later. It’s a little hairy and fiddly at first, since I use 2 circs for the mittens. Having three sets of circs going every which way makes me want to rip my hair out. For the circs that I won’t be knitting on, I used a different needle brand (since it has a bright red cord vs. the blue I am knitting with) so I don’t accidentally knit with them.
25 Feb.: Completed chart through round 31.
1 March: Completed through round 40.
18 March: Getting back on track after a Sock Madness detour for two weeks. Finished the first mitten! Geez, it sure feels good, the stranding isn’t too bad either. Just need to work on thumb knitting: it seems a bit bumpy and lumpy.
30 March: Started second mitten, and completed through round 26.
3 April: done! I-cord tutorial that is great and not verbose: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddBuZzYhkO0
Modifications:
- Knit an extra round of green at the cuff before starting the colorwork.
- Knit the I cord in a contrast color
