7-10 to 7-14: Got started, finished Sections A and B.

7-15-18: Finished Section C

7-16: For the life of me, I couldn’t figure out how the garter stitch rows were added just by reading the charts. But all was revealed in Chart D as I began to knit it! The garter stitch starts after the first two rows at the beginning of the pattern rows on the right side and continues on the wrong side after completing all the patterning repeats. Clever! Finished the first six rows of Chart D.

31 July: Finished 8 pattern repeats of Chart D.

6 August: 13 pattern repeats of Chart D completed.

11 August: 14.5 repeats completed; started the second skein of yarn.

7 September: Finished the 24 repeats of Chart D … shawl now measures 59 x 34”, unblocked. Knitting an extra pattern repeat, and maybe more, depending on how much yarn I have remaining.

3 October: Set this aside for over a month to work on a sweater; all that I needed was the bindoff, and a good blocking. Done! Have about 12 yards of yarn left.

Pattern is written to make a 77” x 33” shawl -- my blocked measurements are 70 x 58, after blocking the heck out of it. Not sure why mine is so much ‘wider’ …. that measurement is the bind off edge of the shawl. Also don’t know why mine is so much shorter, as I used a larger needle and slightly larger yarn than specified. But it’s a beautiful shawl, nonetheless.
