I was not sure about when I could start to work on the diagram after the work in garter stitch. I was afraid to run out of yarn before the end of diagram, so after reading various comments about this pattern, I decided to start the diagram as soon as I have 149 (2x70 + 3 + 6) stitches on my needles.
I made the whole diagram, with one extra repeat of the fan and feather pattern, and then I had 27 grams left (of 100 grams).
I decided that I could make the base in gartner bigger, and I unravelded the pattern.
For the second attempt, I knitted the gartner part up to 209 stitches (2x100 + 3 + 6).
