Initially started 06/25/19 - made it through to dividing for the arms and did not knit the right size, or any actual size for that matter. Somehow got off on counting the collar and the multiple worked for everything, just wasn’t the right size. (sad) Frogged and re-started.

When I restarted I decided to go up a needle size so the fabric of the sweater wouldn’t be so stiff - my yarns lean towards Aran weight- though I’m still knitting the size small.

When I knit the size 36 as written it turned out WAY too large in this Aran weight yarn. Below are my notes on how it turned out and the following note is how I adjusted to knit in Aran weight for 36” bust with less ease.
As written I ended with a sweater that was…
Gauge
18 sts in 4 inches across
19 rows in 4 inches
Finishes measurements of garment (unblocked)
23 inches x2 for bust (46 in circumference)
12 inches under arm to bottom
I had knit size small, in closer to Aran weight yarn,
using size 7 needles. I could have used 6 but the fabric would have been too dense. I am a 36” bust and even being okay with some ease, 10 inches looked awful, and it was before blocking.
With it on katyjane8 helped me calculate how much fabric needed to be eliminated. We recalculated the entire pattern for the gauge I have/Aran weight on size 7.
Sad tag line: if you read the notes from 8-14-19 I had probably accidentally knit the correct size in the first place

Pattern adjusted for Aran weight yarn,
US 7 needles and much less ease.
I did not use smaller needles on the neck because I didn’t want it tight, but I used size 5 on the bottom ribbing and size 6 for the I cord bind off on the sleeves.
My colorwork gauge pre blocking was 18 sts and 22 rows to 4 inches square (see post blocking below)
Looking through the pattern I’ll note my adjustments in order.
CO 80sts
Short rows K 23 for initial 2 rows
Following chart A - stitch count 260
No increase rounds
Separating for the sleeves:
From BOR k 40 sts, place 49 sts on holder, CO 3 sts, k 80 sts, place 49 sts on holder, k 40 to BOR
Complete chart B - I believe I had to do a single stitch increase to make the chart work out
Sleeves - pick up 5 sts in the under arm
Before blocking:
body length from under arm 11.5 inches
arm length from under arm 14 inches (I wanted to
block the sleeves to set just above my watch)
bust at arm pit of sweater 18 inches flat = 36 inches
See pre blocking gauge above.
Post blocking:
Colorwork gauge post blocking 17 sts by 22 rows for 4 inches square
body length 11.5 in
I specifically did not stretch the body length when blocking because I didn’t want it to grow, instead I stretched the width
arm length 14 in
I tried to stretch the arms a bit, but I lost any added length because I needed to hard block out the width of the colorwork area on the upper arm so it wouldn’t be tight
Bust
19 inches flat = 38 inch bust
This means I ended up with just over 3 inches of ease, but I like the look
