Notes

Hopefully I can get this done by the time we go to Weatherford to visit on the 19th. It’ll be a bit late birthday present and a really late Christmas present.

1/31/2016
Yarn wound and ready to go. I think I’ll use a 6 instead of a 4.
Completed Setup Chart and Transition Chart

2/1/2016 Started Main Chart LOVING this pattern already
Completed 3 pattern repeats
This yarn feels amazing, but I have already come across two knots. I hate that! I was thinking about getting another skein and doing this in blue, but I think I’ll find another yarn or at least pore over it and check for knots before I do anything else.
I’m starting to wonder if I should have used a 7, but I think the shawl will block out nicely as it is. I’ll ask the ladies at the Nook tomorrow what they think if I’m not too far along.

2/2/2016
Completed 2 more main pattern repeats (5 total).
Found another knot. That’s the third one. UGH!
Sticking with a size 6.

2/3/2016
Completed 6th round repeat - If I continue with one a day (minus Saturday when I’m working the Nook), I should be soaking and blocking by Sunday night.
Yarn is a bit splitty in places and pills/fuzzes up a bit occasionally. Sometimes white will show through in places, especially where twists/pills. The yarn still feels amazing, but I’m growing pretty disappointed with it the further along I get in this project, especially since I’m knitting this for my grandma.
I have never worked with straight silk before, so I wonder if this is common with silks. I don’t think I will buy this yarn again if I want to work with more, though.

This pattern is A+ amazing, though. Really really enjoying it.

2/4/2016
Finished 7th and 8th pattern repeats.
Found another knot. UGH. That is FOUR freakin’ knots. AND halfway through the 8th pattern repeat I decided that I need another skein for more repeats, maybe 12 total. I’ll pick one up at the Nook tomorrow. Hopefully someone didn’t buy out the other four skeins that were there on Tuesday! Definitely checking for knots before I buy, though. Won’t be using this yarn for another project. Sigh

2/5/2016
Finished 9th pattern repeat and I’m thinking something along the lines of 12 repeats now. I got another skein, so that’ll be no problem!
I’m still on track to be finished in time for our trip. Found one knot in the first few yards of the second skein, but I’m not surprised.

2/7/2016
10th and 11th repeats

2/9/2016
Completed 12th repeat. I think I’ll go for a 13th and see where I am from there.

2/10/2016
13th repeat completed! There isn’t enough for a 14th.
I used the Frilled Standard Bind-Off. It’s nice and stretchy, but it wants to roll a bit. Blocking will fix it.

Just waiting on it to dry for some final pictures.

I’m pretty proud of how this turned out!
