INITIALLY: Italian Tubular CO 64, working 4 rows flat; changing to 1X1 twisted rib for 16 rounds with 2.5mm ndls; after about 5 rounds in variegated yarn sock appeared too large and changed to 2.0mm ndls; after a few more rounds, I finally tried on the sock and it was way too big--also noticed that this CO is not as stretchy and nice as it looked without a leg in it…so, I am tinking to start all over again.
NOW: 2.5mm KP ndl, CO 60 sts MP’s Strick Trixx Spiral Anschlag 1.
Knit first row; change to 2.0mm DPNs, join in the round with 2X2 rib; shift 2-4 sts per round to avoid laddering--19 rds, change to variegated yarn, weaving first the light yarn while knitting, then the variegated yarn--44 rounds
Heel Flap in Capretta: sl1, k1, 30 sts, 30 rows; then work square heel, 10-10-10, cont in heel st patt until only the middle 10 sts are left, k5, change back to variegated yarn, k5 and pick up 17 sts for gusset, k across instep, pu 17sts, k5 (twist pu gusset sts and only use the inner most loop)
Gusset decr are worked on either side of the instep. Don’t worry about having picked up 2 more sts ea side than normally needed for the side of the heel flap; just decrease them away EOR like the rest of them (gives a bit more room in the instep area)
Decr until you end up with 30 heel sts again and cont ITR
Toe:
Attach white yarn, knit one full rd and weave in varigated yarn, then knit another rd weaving in the white tail. Then begin decreases (directly on sides!) EOR to 12 sts each needle. Knit one more rd and graft sts together.
