Since I have all that Palette yarn and didn’t know what to do with it, I thought, I’d use it for this little gem. Now, while this shawl is a very traditional Shetland shawl, typically knit in natural/muted tones…nothing muted about my version.

Tradition meets HipHop?

The pattern was part of a Craftsy class and I thought it would be fun to use it to practice knitting English style…of course that failed since Continental is my default way of knitting.

The pattern itself is very easy to follow. One word of caution: when you get to the part where you pick-up and knit sts, designer states to pick-up in the garter st bumps and other than the 8 sts at beginning and end, accurate stitch count does not really matter too much. I took this advice and in hindsight feel that I should have taken a closer look to ensure I had enough stitches to avoid the finished project to “pucker” a little bit. It isn’t too bad but…could have been better/avoided.

Also, the designer’s way of BO was too tight for me, so I slightly altered it by knitting ea sts tbl BEFORE knitting 2tog tbl if that makes sense.
