My goal was to demonstrate proficiency with Vanishing and Conjuring Spells by vanishing 2400+ yards for this project. The size was set to be 72x72.

But, the Slytherin in me surpassed my own expectations. I finished this blanket to fit a Queen size bed 83x83. The total amount of yarn I used for this blanket was 4,869 yards.

I have been a crocheter since I was 10 which is many moons ago. I never learned by reading patterns, but by looking at a crochet piece and then recreating without any type of instructions in front of me. It’s the way I was taught. This nice lady taught me how to crochet and she too never followed a written pattern. I am totally grateful to have had her in my life.

This was the first time I attempted to crochet an entrelac blanket. I watched a couple of youtube videos and read some blogs. I jumped right in and before you know it, I begin to find a way to create this blanket a little different. I was able to crochet three separate colors at the same time. It became easy for me and moved along quickly. I also constructed the edges around each corner to fit snug like a fitted sheet. I am so happy with this project.

Crochet- could vanish a minimum of 2,400 yds

Description of Proposed Work:

Dear Examiner, I plan to crochet a full size entrelac blanket for my winter OWL. I will demonstrate proficiency with Vanishing and Conjuring Spells by vanishing 2400+ yards for this project.

Yarn:

Caron One Pound (812 yards each =2436 yards)

Midnight Blue
Rose
Claret
I have two skeins each just in case I don’t have enough for the edging.

Swatch:

33+1 chains (swatch)
Casting on 199 stitches
Sequence & Points of Consideration:

I plan to crochet a full size blanket approximately 72”x72” with edging taking about 1” or 2” on all four sides. I have no problem crocheting a blanket of this size in a short amount of time. The new factor: I’ve never tried the entrelac stitch before.

I watched many videos and going through patterns to see what type of entrelac worked for me. I realized a third color would look better and a count of 11+1 for pattern.

The photo shows different swatches trying to learn this stitch. I also tried the knitting version, but I liked the crochet version better.

Proposed 50% Mark:

My goal to reach 50% would be 40” in length.
