Wound up my yarn and I’m ready to go! I will be knitting this with a double strand since it’s the wrong weight for the pattern, so I did a little extra prep for the multicolored ball.
After winding it up once, I put the ball on a scale and re-wound it to half the weight. Then I found where the first end lined up with the color rotation in the center, cut and tied the two together, and wound it up a third time as a double strand in a single ball. This way my colors should keep relatively consistent (pulling either end of one ball would rotate the colors in opposite directions), and the tension between the two strands should keep fairly even as well. I’m not doing this with the brown since it’s a solid, so we’ll see how they compare.

Finished the brim and got to start the second color today! Loving how it’s looking!
Current thoughts on my two double stranding methods: Tension really hasn’t proven to be an issue with pulling from both ends. However, the strands do end up twisting around each other a lot, and they’ve tangled a couple times because of this. I am sold on re-winding the ball to get a center pull double strand. It’s been super pleasant knitting with my multicolor ball.

Body of the hat is done! Lots of progress this morning from an early cat-induced wake up.
Decreases start next!

All done! The crown knit up very quickly. It’s always so satisfying how fast hats finish up.
It came out a bit longer than I’d expected, but the brim folds up really nicely, or it can also sit lower and be more floppy. It’s very comfy and perfect for a warm & cozy December.
