Increase pattern until wide enough to accommodate shoulders.
Purl row, 6 rows of moss stitch increasing at rm every second row (utilising the kp look of the made stitches).
Repeat increase pattern from * once,
removing the 4 shoulder sm on the last row(5 rows).
From here on the only increases are at the rm, every two rounds.
At this point the I counted stitches and found I could easily divide up the length into patterns of 6 (if I made a stitch)
3 rows of p1, k5
-remembering to kfab each side of rm every 2nd row and match the pattern as you go (purling purl stitches etc.)
I decided to go for a pattern with holes
p, k2, yo, k2tog, k, p, k2, yo, k2tog, k….repeated to rm
p, k5 repeated
p, yo, k2tog, k, yo, k2tog, repeated.
Having never done lace this turned out asymmetric, but oh well :)
p,k5 for 3 rows,
then into k1:p1 rib for about 3cm 8 rows), remembering to continue increases at rm on alternate rows.
Bind off by knotting two stitches together with 3½“(9cm) lengths of yarn; match or contast, your choice.
I found a crochet hook was useful, or you could use a yarn needle. Tie both tails overhand loop fashion, rather than a granny or reef knot so that the tails both point straight out from the work.
