I cast on 70 stitches for newborn size.
This isn’t in the pattern, but it says to cast on in increments of 10 where 80 is for Baby size. My previous effort showed that Baby size was for about a year old baby, not a new one.

I did find that because I had been decreasing in 7 groups, when it came to the 1 stitch per group decrease where I had to knit 7 stitches together in 2s I knit the first stitch plain and then k2 the other 6 stitches (leaving 4 stitches that I could k2 in the last decreases).

I decreased all the way to one stitch and then knit a little single stitch chain on the end for some extra length to tie up into the knot on top.
