Notes on my afterthought heel: I hate knitting them because I suck at picking up stitches. I lose some, I have to jimmy it to make it work; it’s super stressful. I used this on my Erica & Veronica socks and it was awesome!

Put a lifelilne in the row before knitting on scrap yarn (green yarn), knit the scrap yarn row (light blue yarn) and then knit across those stitches in main color (white), putting a lifeline line in those stitches (light blue yarn).

Now, when I unzip the scrap yarn, Both sets of heel stitches will already be on the lifeline and i can easily pick it up from there! BOOM! There’s a picture of me unzipping the stitches…

i also work a few rows past putting the stitches on hold before going back to pick out the waste yarn so i can try it on. fits snugly (i did go down a needle size), but that’s what i wanted as i won’t be wearing tights with these socks.

used an 8 on the heel. 2 chart repeats and 3 rows on the foot before starting toe decreases. was getting long and wanted a rounder toe. kitchenered with 30 stitches left.

used 90g of main color and 85g of coordinating color. i would’ve probably needed more than one skein if i had used US8 needles for the entire project.

this could be one of my favorite patterns ever! i loved knitting it. i found the charts very intuitive. i’m already planning on using the numbers and some turkish knitting charts to make more slippers!
