Ok. Here’s the thing. I’ve been knitting for a fair bit. Almost 2 decades. And what I know how to do I know how to do well. Button holes? No prob. Cables? Easy easy. I’ve steeked. (Stuck ???) Don’t like seamed knits. Sock toe up or toe down. Whatever.

Other stuff? I may or may not feel confident about. I haven’t done after thought heels because I love my other options.

While I have picked up stitches that were being held on waste yarn and continued knitting to previous direction. And have picked up sleeve stitches and continued in a random third direction. This was the first time I have really tried knitting 180 degrees the other way like this. After completing the leg and foot and toe of the first sock, I totally mucked up the picking up of stitches and ripped back entire foot. (I still don’t want to talk about it.)

Got slightly smarter and knit several rows of waste yarn before starting foot. When ready for heel, ran needles thru, picked up stitches. Started to remove waste yarn. Realized 8 or 9 stitches in I should knit that row on the foot portion and THEN remove waste yarn. She can be taught!! Adding this in case it helps someone.

1/17/15 Arg these took forever! Partly because of Christmas knitting and partly because I plunged in pretty deep in a quilt project.

I love the pattern. Like all SVDL it’s well written. I don’t think my skills had enough finesse to knit these as I would like. And I did not keep ripping and knitting. Today good enough is good enough.
