This bag took 14 squares. The only part of the pattern I actually followed was how to organize the squares. Because this red heart granny yarn uses all five rows of the square, I put the bag together using slip stitches.

Then I cut fabric and handsewed it on the inside using backstitch. I made 2 handles and used the ends to sew them on.
