ERRATA:
-
The pattern treats the first increase row as one of the five stockinette row; this is incorrect, and it should be five stockinette rows after the increase row.
-
Not errata as such, but with the sleeves, the pattern doesn’t say how many decreases to do on the decrease rows, where, or how. There are supposed to be 2 decreases each decrease rows, and I did mine 2 stitches past the stitch marker (k2tog) and 2 before the stitch marker (ssk).
NOTE: I learned the hard way that an alpaca (blend) is probably not the best for this pattern: if the hairs matt at all it can obscure the pattern. I’m finding a way to make it work, but it’s a lot of extra work (see notes).
Found this pattern in an abandoned issue of Interweave a long time ago, been meaning to make it for a long while. I hope the color’s not too dark for the pattern to show up, but I won’t really know until I block it, I guess. Overall a pretty easy knit.

Well, it was looking pretty great after I blocked it, but then I wore it when it was really too hot, got it a bit sweaty, and a couple spots felted a bit from rubbing up against my backpack. Tried blocking again, but alas, didn’t seem to work. Was thinking about frogging it and doing something different, but then thought to sew under the pattern to make it pop out. Which is a real pain in the ass, but it seems to be working.

Sewing under the purls was a real pain in the ass, but it worked beautifully! Didn’t have enough yarn to complete it, so I ended up frogging the sleeves and making it into a vest (which I’d been thinking about doing even before I started). The construction meant it was still gonna have cap sleeves, which I felt didn’t suit the pattern, but then I realized I could roll them up; I love the final look!
