One giant ball of white cotton worsted...what can you knit with that?
I had two weeks until our Fall Fair. What would be useful, beautiful and really really fun to knit in that time?
Two weeks later, and here they are: The seven secret facecloths. Pure white cotton. All fun, all the time! Plus they are skill building from beginner to intermediate as you progress. If you can cast on, bind off and knit and purl, these seven facecloths will take you on a wonderful knitting journey teaching you new things with each facecloth.
Enjoy!

A pdf pattern booklet containing eight larger, facecloth sized patterns will be for our Fall Fair folk only, Sept. 9th, 2023.
I’ve changed each pattern enough to make it more original.
I included “Grandma’s Garter” to give one more diagonally knit facecloth even though it is not shown in this set.
All were made with one large-as-your-head 400g ball of worsted un-mercenized (roughish) cotton dishcloth yarn knit up into facecloth sizes (10x10inches). This is how much yarn each of my re-designs used:
- Fireside - 54 grams
- Breakfast Waffle - 48 grams (there is a pattern for Grandma’s Garter, but I did not make that one for the fall fair).
- Thick & Thirsty - 62 grams
- Chessboard - 54 grams
- Optical Illusion- 52 grams
- Lotus Blossom - 47 grams
- Butterfly Leaves - both 47 grams
Needles used:
3.75mm
4.0mm
4.5mm
These would make great gifts along with tiny fruity or oaty handmade soaps to go with each one.
