This is based on the Paradise Shawl but I opened up the magic circle and slip stitched along the bottom of the dc to give a wider beginning; this made the shawl sit more forward on my neck and gave it a better angle.

I used linked dc for the top, so I made 8 sections instead of six because linked dc are narrower than dc. I then used V stitches (dc, ch, dc into one stitch or space) for the second section, and my shells in the third section were 3dc, ch, 3dc. The edging was 7dc into one space.

I used the smaller hook for the top part and the larger hook for the shells, which made them softer and drapier.

I removed the buttons because I wasn’t ever undoing them and it’s easier to sling this on without metal buttons bashing into my glasses. But this meant that the back pulled down more leaving my neck cold so I added a small coller (slip stitch blo). I think it’s a bit less pretty but I hope it will be more comfortable.
