I started by using the double-knitting technique but it was slow and didn’t have any obvious advantages seeing that I wasn’t doing colour work.

So after half a dozen rows I switched to knitting the sparkle side only and then when that was finished I knitted the inside of the cowl (which meant reversing directions so I could knit not purl). When the inside and the outside matched, I cast them off together, casting off using one strand of yarn and doing one purl for the inside then one knit stitch for the outside all the way around.

I made quite a few mistakes features but after blocking it’s OK, apart from seeming to lean slightly to the left.

Also, it came out too wide. It’s 15.5” across when laid flat, a good ten inches more diameter than I was going for.

It’s just 10 inches deep.
