Finite is named for a “linear bounded automaton” , a type of Turing machine on which the tape is restricted to a finite length. This sweater is designed for knitting with tape yarn, specifically tape that you don’t have a lot of. The lace pattern and the simple top-down raglan means that you get the maximum possible sweater out of your finite amount of tape.
