Notes

“Just Oregon” a single animal 3-ply yarn from Gun Plain Pygoras, from our 3 year old buck, The Oaks Oregon. His type-A fleece was sheared “on farm”, then dehaired and spun into yarn at Urban Dreams Farm, a small custom mill 100 miles from us.

Our fingering weight Pygora 3-ply is a “small yarn that knits big”!

The pattern is written for a fingering weight yarn and size 5 needle, but this piece was made with a size 6 needle as this yarn “blooms” when knitted.

This pattern uses very little yarn and is a quick knit. It’s made in 3 pieces - the band, ball and flower rufffle, then stitched together. The hardest part is knitting the “flower” part of the pattern, which goes from 9 stitches to 243 stitches in just four rows using “Kfbf” repeats. Going from 3 dpn’s to at least 9 dpn’s on row 6 of this part of the pattern makes it easier to manage the growing ruffle (see photo 3).

While called a “scarf”, this pattern makes a fitted neckwarmer, and it also fits comfortably as a headband to keep ears cozy & fashionable…

This yarn is out of stock until the next shearing.
