knitting in fingering, so need to swatch and adjust.
gauge = 30 sts = 4”
so to get size small, i will use the size xl
29 dec: “work 6 inches in k2p2 rib” ugh
11 jan: back is finished. now i have to do another 6 inches of ribbing.
13 jan: still ribbing. but just making a note that the back took under one skein of yarn. joined seconed skein after doing about 2” ribbing on the front.
18 jan: about halfway done the front.
20 jan: almost done the front! hope 4th skein arrives soon. not looking forward to more ribbing though
21 jan: 4th skein arrived shortly after i posted my hopes! front is done as well. i am going to cast on the scarf next, and then divide the remaining yarn by weight for the sleeves. because i’m still worried i’ll run short, and i can make them 3/4 if i must.
26 jan: “cravat” just about done. have about 25 or 30g left from third skein.
27 jan: cast on both sleeves, will knit at the same time to ensure they’re even. more deadly ribbing.
29 jan: the sleeves require eight inches of ribbing instead of six. ugh.
1 feb: when will the ribbing end…
6 feb: ribbing is done! and i’m an inch-and-a-half into the stockinette. amazing how much more quickly it goes.
9 feb: sleeves are going quicker now that i am out of the blasted ribbing. now measuring 14” (8” ribbing + 6” stockinette)
12 feb: have done the final increase on the sleeves, expect to finish sleeve cap shaping tonight. then block and make up! whee!
17 feb: blocked on the weekend, on to making up. seaming this thing is taking forever and reminding me that i really really really need glasses.
18 feb: done! perfect thing to wear on a cold day! fabric is thin and soft and warm. love it.
