Inspired by Grace Kelly in the Alfred Hitchcock classic, “To Catch a Thief.”

Reached the armscye, time to divide fronts & backs!
29 April 2015
Basically done the shell, just a few rows to go + ribbing. Then, the dreaded dupe stitch begins.
1 May 2015
Finished the shell, decided the neckline was too wide, so ripped back. Onward!
4 May 2015
Feel like I am two steps forward, one step back with this one! Reworked the neckline, tried on, was happy, but I guess I fell into my usual trap of not picking up enough stitches for the ribbing, because I couldn’t get it over my head! Argh. Ripping again.
9 May 2015
Shell is totally down down to the ribbing! Even on the armscye! Where I fell into the trap of overcompensating and picking up too many stitches so it flared out in an ugly way (I hate when ribbing does that). Taking a break with other projects before attacking the dupe stitch.

Long break but back at it. Ran in all the ends (why were there so many?) and am on to the duplicate stitch. Did 3 shapes complete with outline, then realised that the outline makes it harder to count stitches for placing remaining shapes, so now I’m just leaving long tails for future outline chaining. Going to try marking out positions with toothpicks and see if that helps, too.

Holy cats, 8 years this has been hibernating… currently diverting all my funds to dental care, so looking at hibernating projects. Also, I just found the gloves that Grace Kelly wears with this outfit in my size! (What not spending money? Sshhhh I have wanted these gloves for so long, and waited for an offer on Poshmark.) So, going to wake this one up again, and hopefully have ready for summer.
