I am knitting this wonderful sweater as a sample for Junction Fiber Mill. Pattern is currently being test knit . Designer is Thea Colman (Baby Cocktail). This is her Rhinebeck 2024 sweater.
When I knit the sample, I had to switch from size 4 mm to size 3.75 as my gauge was off. With the 3.75 i spot on, although I did like the fabric that size 4 mm produced.
I cast on Saturday , August 31st but the whole long weekend was mostly lost to school preparations as we started Tuesday after Labor day.
9/8/24 I divided front and back. It is easy to remember to knit the pattern to and fro and not in the round as it is recognizable. The pattern produces a lovely fabric that looks thick , but it is really not heavy. I love the blocked sample and I cannot wait to see the finished sweater blocked.
Yarn is a pleasure to work with. I am totally partial to the Romney….and I like the ochre color of the mostly Bluefaced Leicester.
I finished the front with the two separate shoulders.
9/11/24 finished and stitched the shoulders. I sure hope it gets a bit longer with a good blocking! I love the fabric and I appreciate the detailed instructions that Thea Colman wrote. I remember the old days , when patterns simply said: do the other shoulder mirroring the first one!
9/21/24it took me almost a week to knit the second shoulder, just because I was so tired in the evening. This evening though I finished it and gave it a nice bath. Unfortunately, it is a rainy day so it is blocking downstairs with the dehumidifier on. The stitch opened up and the yarn bloomed very nicely. Technically it is not finished as I left a few tales to weave in case something doesn’t look good.
I started the 5th skein of the ochre yarn in the second cuff , but it will be needed by others who will knit it with bigger needles. I used little of the second white skein too .
