Socktivism is like slacktivism but takes more effort, involves expenditure of money and has the practical result of a pair of socks as well as any other positive world-changing (and personal feel-good) effects which might ensue.

Purchase of this yarn - true colours - includes a donation to Stonewall UK in response to the shootings in Orlando and thanks to the thoughtfulness and generosity of dyer Old Maiden Aunt.

For the summer sock kal I wanted lace and a local designer. The Ravelry database of awe came up with Jane Lithgow’s Cornish Scallops Socks and it’s perfect!

Started on the East London Yarn Triangle (ELYT) tour for Worldwide Knit in Public Day.

Whilst at Wild and Woolly (my stop 1 on the ELYT) a fellow knitter, also enjoying the hospitality, tea and chocolate flapjack, mentioned that knitting, and social events such as these, were a great way of combatting isolation and loneliness. This reminded me of the collection in honour of Jo Cox which includes a charity working to combat isolation, so a donation to the Jo Cox Fund can also be included in this particular iteration of socktivism.
