Notes

Such a beautiful pattern and scrumptious yarn. I like the way the texture changes subtly in the set-up rows, and the “wrong” side is interesting too.

Picked up again earlier this week after a three year hibernation! I had got halfway through chart A. Am now commencing chart E. This is a delightfully challenging knit.

Finished!

Pattern required concentration and stitch markers to indicate each repeat. The former because I was purling the “short way” round and therefore had to pay particular attention to where the front leg was of each stitch, and the latter because if I was distracted in the middle of a row it took ages to work out where I was in the pattern.

Blocked, entirely coincidentally, to exactly the size given in the pattern. Not sure how practical the shape will be but the cable and lace designs are absolutely superb, the way they move into each other.

The yarn too is absolutely gorgeous both in handle and colour. I like the idea of combining a metal-related colour way to a shield-like piece, hence the name aegis.

A very rewarding knit.
