This pattern, which Yongman Lee originally listed for $9.50 USD, was made by modifying Caryn Shaffer’s five-year-old Handsome Chris pattern, a free pattern that many have followed and adored: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-handsome-chr...
FEB. 7 UPDATE: As of Feb. 5, Knittingsee has changed the featured cable motif and deleted all previous images to conceal his actions. As of Feb. 7, the pattern is once more available for sale (now at $10 USD). Read below for the full story.
FEB 8. UPDATE: Knittingsee’s pattern once again showed “discontinued” (see photo 16) in the early hours between Feb. 7 and Feb. 8, but this time the edit history only reflected changes by him, not a Ravelry mod. As of Feb. 8, the pattern is back to being listed for $10 USD.
Knittingsee (Yongman Lee/Guicciardini on Ravelry) admitted to using the Handsome Chris pattern (see photos 1 & 2) and later tried to backtrack and lie about it. He also secretly released a paid Woolfolk pattern that he was testing to his group chat of Cable It testers prior to release date and without consent (photos 3 & 4). He continues to delete any and all comments and public reports posted to the Cable It product page relating to the plagiarism/theft.
Evidence/proof (and general snark) in the order in which it came to light:
- “Charging for modifications of free patterns?” https://www.reddit.com/r/craftsnark/s/RZVnKvLRV6
- “The knitter who got cancelled by Woolfolk” https://www.reddit.com/r/craftsnark/s/nYyjpOOEQ9
- “Knittingsee’s reaction in the test knitting group chat, translated” https://www.reddit.com/r/craftsnark/s/2MqIQHSFLO
He has publicly bullied the person he believed to be responsible for reporting him to Woolfolk via his Instagram (photos 5 & 6).

Additionally, Caryn Shaffer, the original author of the Handsome Chris pattern (which is itself a reverse engineer of Ransom’s sweater from the movie Knives Out), wrote this blog post about the theft and subsequent fallout with Woolfolk:

Caryn Shaffer has never heard from Knittingsee regarding his theft of her pattern (photo 8).

Knittingsee has changed his story multiple times, as is evident in the linked Reddit posts. Even the edit history of his pattern’s product page shows his panic and lies. He has updated the pattern description numerous times to credit various sources as “inspiration” for Cable It—from the Cocoknits method to a French brand (photos 11 & 12). The original screenshot shared in one of the Reddit stories doesn’t lie, though. Before he published Cable It, he was open about having followed and merely modified the Handsome Chris pattern (photos 1 & 2). Now, he continues to lie and insult those who call him out in order to profit from other designers’ work (photos 5, 6, 9, 10, & 14).
He has gone on multiple rampages in his group chat and on his Instagram stories. Just one example: “Knittingsee’s Insta story” https://www.reddit.com/r/craftsnark/s/dCa0gx4Y67
January 29, 2025
As of January 29, 2025, Ravelry has removed the ability to purchase Cable It on their platform. Yongman Lee/Knittingsee may attempt to reinstate the pattern so it can be sold again. As long as the pattern page remains on Ravelry, so will this project.
January 30, 2025
Knittingsee appears to be changing the cable motif on the Cable It pattern so he can appeal its removal from Ravelry and profit from it once more (photo 13).
For now, the ability to purchase the pattern on Ravelry is still disabled, but this may change if Knittingsee’s revisions are accepted.

Knittingsee’s unethical actions are clearly not a problem in his eyes. He continues to whine on his socials and do everything in his power to pretend he’s never even heard of Handsome Chris:

Knittingsee has removed any mention of Handsome Chris from the pattern page (photo 15).
