Notes

Whew! This sweater is beautiful. The Heritage yarn was perfect for it. I knit the smallest size pretty much to pattern and it turned out just right. Used almost exactly 5 skeins - the sweater weighs 560 grams.

Mods:

  • Lengthened body and sleeves to fit my 6’ self.
  • Knit body for about 10 inches, then switched to 5 mm needles (one size up) for remainder, to give more ease over my hips. This worked out great.
  • Used 4.5 mm for sleeve ribbing, and 5 mm for the bottom hem.

This was my first time using a provisional cast on for the underarms of a top-down sweater. It did make starting the sleeves much easier.

Old notes:

Well, my gauge with Heritage on 4.5mm needles is usually 16 sts/4” but I am getting tighter on this sweater, measuring anything from 17-18 sts/4”. Since the smallest size is still quite large, I am going to knit a little further and see how it fits. The tighter gauge might be okay. NOTE: After washing and wearing the sweater, gauge on the 4.5mm portion is 16 sts/4” and gauge on 5mm portion is about 15 sts/4”.
