This pattern is only written for a 6-12 month old, but I’m modifying it to be my size.

Instead of knitting the trinity stitch (which was a real pain), I’m crocheting bobbles. I’m working the hat top-down, then I’ll pick up the stitches at the color changes and begin knitting.

11/27: all done! I love the thickness of the crochet. I knitted on size 8 needles (but following same pattern) to make the hat my size.

I’ve had some questions about how I did the crochet part! Here you go:
I used the bobble stitch, and I basically just started crocheting in the round, increasing by 6 sts each round. I increased until it was the circumference of my head (which was about 78 sts in the round, for me)

Then I worked plain until it covered my ears!
