inherited a half-complete block of the month blanket from mgarner as she destashed… i’m pretty sure she knew i’d want to finish it for her, rather than rip it back for all the yummy mal (;
so it’s three panels of four blocks, jan-dec, put out in 2010 (as nearly as i can tell, with the help of correlating meg’s squares to these - don’t you just Love ravelry??!) via the red purl (hi y’all!) mgarner finished the jan-apr panel, as well as may-jul but ran out of this awesome chocolately brown for the aug block. in january of 2015, i did the sept, october, & most of nov blocks before also running out of yarn, without enough of the CC1 or CC2 to complete the blocks in that panel - sad day! i was totally on a roll!
so my best guess, allow half a skein per block, give or take, is:
sept block 105 yds
october block 105yds
november block 63 yds

sept in ancient runes - graded, 6 bonus points!
oct in arithmancy - graded, 6 bonus points!
nov for partial credit in charms - accepted for partial credit with 2 bonus points
15apr15 so two partials (aug & nov) & a full block (december) remain, mgarner ordered yarn to be sent straight to me! yay! so either completing the blocks with new yarn of same color (dyelots be damned), or ripping out partial blocks to make out of whatever colors arrive (: good plan! also thinking she’ll need a sweet fairisle bolster sham with these leftovers… what do you think?
august block ripped back & restarted 9may2015 in lovely violetas
29g of the skein remain, meaning i used about 150 yards & also that i seriously underestimated those previous blocks! drats
150 yards

graded … 7 bonus points!
bestbud moved to alaska june 2023 & naturally Obviously neeeeeds this (even more) now so i’m pulling my socks up & doing the math for that block i lost the pattern page for & Making It Work
november block in full, violetas
december block in 3 colors to use up remnants of those partial balls from the other blocks
joining with a crochet hook, that thing when you slip stitch in one side then the other so you get a zigzagging seam on the RS of the piece? changing colors at each block to help make repairs easier……theoretically.
and i had a few spots that needed darning so i did some in matching & some in contrasting. visible mending is more my preference and style so that’s how i’m making my mark on this piece
we agree that my research indicating it was originally started in 2010 is accurate, so this blanket is finally coming of age in its 13th year
