Instructions:
Ribbed Baby Hat or any size
(Any size if you are good at adjusting instructions to fit)
By Karen Malmgren: I came up with this pattern on my own, but it is such a simple one I am sure I am not the first to do so.
Size 3-6 months approximately
Hooks needed: F,G,H,I,J,K (Yes, you need all these hooks)
Worsted or Medium #4 yarn
I like Caron Simply Soft.
Change colors at beginning of row of your choice or keep solid.
Using a F hook -
Row 1: ch 5, slip stitch in 1st ch.
(Can use the magic circle technique (look up on net), 10 sc in the circle. Skip to Row 3)
Row 2: ch 1, sc 9 times around, slip stitch in ch 1.
Row 3: ch 1, sc 3 times in same space as ch1, sc 4 times in next sc 9 times, slip stitch in ch1.
Row 4: ch 2, 1 hdc in next sc space 39 times, slip stitch in ch 2.
Row 5: ch 3, fptr around the next dc, bptr around next hdc, fptr around next hdc 19 times, slip stitch in ch 3.
(Instead of slip stitch in ch 3: Another option is mark this spot with a place holder and continue around without the chain 3 by just bptc in the chain three space and continue on. I use a bobby pin as a place holder. This marks where your rows begin and end. You do not need to move the place holder.)
Rows 6-8: Repeat row 5
Change to a G hook
Rows 9-11: Repeat row 5
Change to a H hook
Rows 12-14: Repeat row 5
Change to a I hook
Rows 15-18: Repeat row 5
Change to a J hook
Rows 19-21: Repeat row 5
Change to a K hook
Rows 22-25: Repeat row 5
Still using the K hook
Rows 26-28: ch 1, sc around, slip stitch in ch 1.
Tie off at end of row 28. Weave ends.
