Joined with Flat Braid and Reverse Mattress Stitch techniques.

Bordered with Border #56 and Butterfly Border and edged with crab stitch. This is being constructed with the freestanding technique and will be attached after it’s complete.

7/11/13: While making the blocks I didn’t know what the overall design was going to be so I left them at the 3.5in, 6.5in, and 10.5in measurements achieved from following the patterns exactly as written. Now that I’ve seen the final afghan I’ve decided to bring my blocks up to the correct measurements of 4in, 8in, and 12in. Since the 12in blocks will be alone in their section of the garden I’ve decided to bring them up to size with modern abstract floral borders so they don’t get lonely.

7/14/13: 25% of the blocks are sized and joined.

7/22/13: 50% of the blocks are sized and joined.

8/4/13: 75% of the blocks are sized and joined.

8/24/13: 100% of the blocks are sized and joined! Center measures 53”x60”.

8/31/13: Freestanding border complete.

10/3/13: Border #56 complete

10/4/13: Butterfly border complete. Butterfly border looked too busy, so I scaled it back to just the corners.

10/5/13 Afghan complete!!!
