14 May - The pattern has been updated today on Ravelry - this design gets my full five stars.
13 May - An absolutely beautiful design, as well as a very clever and creative construction. The pattern includes clear lace pattern charts. However, I can’t rate it on account of the numerous errata I’ve found, and the somewhat skimpy instructions - all of which I feel isn’t entirely appropriate in a for-sale pattern. I notified the designer of the errata, and also spent some time filling gaps in the instructions, but didn’t heard back. I assume that the pattern has been edited, but since I haven’t received an update, I’ll list my comments below:
ERRATA:
-(Page 2) Front 1, Row 2: (k1, p1, k1, p1, k1)
-(Page 3) Back 1, Row 1: (k1, p1, k1, p1, k1)
-(Page 4) Sleeves: At the same time, decrease 1 stitch
-(Page 4) Sleeves (cuffs): At the same time, decrease 4 stitches
-(Page 6) Back 2, Row2: k4, p8
NOTES & SUGGESTIONS:
-
Yarn requirements and measurements of the finished blouse are missing, but you can find the yarn requirements on the design page on Ravelry.
-
Front 1: when you’ve completed the correct number of repeats, do not brake yarn. Begin Back 1 with new yarn.
-
Front 2 and Back 2: I had to work a wrong side row before starting with the instructions (which begin with a right side row).
-
Joining front and back pieces together (at the shoulder): p2tog, p1, p2tog (i.e. purl the last purl stitch of the front together with the first purl stitch of the back), p1, p2tog
-
Sleeves: DO NOT bind off side stitches (I did, as per the somewhat vague instructions, and regretted it, as this results in thick, awkward and ultimately unnecessary side seams). Instead, either 3 needle bind off together front and back side stitches, or slip back and front side stitches onto waste yarn to be woven together later with kitchner stitch. Work sleeve stitches.
-
Sleeve decreases (for which no instructions are given) - I did: (RS) k2, k2tog, knit in pattern to last 4 sts, ssk, k2 -- 2 edge stitches.
-
Sleeves: wt rows - not entirely sure what they do, but I trusted the design and worked them. However, I added a purl row in pattern before changing to 3mm needles.
MODS
I used a much thicker yarn (gauge: 19 sts) and knitted size 3-4 with all the repetitions for size 7-8 -- it fits my 9 year old perfectly. I omitted the short rows in the last repetition in front and back 1 and 2, and knitted a total of 11 sleeve repetitions. I didn’t seam the moss stitch edge in because it would have added to the bulk.
