Another cosplay on the go. This time, I’m doing a modified Captain Marvel and going for a sort of hipster-ish, laid back look.
Pants-- Made top down, starting with a large band that fit around my hips and butt, then added a crotch piece and worked the legs down from there. The red was added last at the bottom of the legs and at the waist. The drawstring is just to make sure nothing falls off in the middle of the con floor. There’s a couple of strips of elastic crocheted in the waistband to hold things in place.
Jacket--Raglan-style (worked top-down). Double crochet all the way down except the single crochet in the middle of the yellow stripes. Pockets were added by single crocheting into the double crochet stitches (2 stitches per double crochet) and working across until I had enough space my whole hand and wrist were covered when I folded the pocket over. I sewed the pockets into place using backstitch.
Star was done by making six square stitch panels. Four were five wide and seven tall, and the other two were simply the first three starting square stitches. I then laid them out using the blue in the yellow as my center point and sewed them into place.
Sleeves are finished with post stitch double crochet.
Zipper was hand-stitched, and may I not have to do that for a good long while. What a pain in the ass.
Piping was completed by stitching single crochets into the middle stitch of the raglan increases.
