Old Red Heart Fingering yarn from 60s or 70s, in a bag of other yarn cleaned out from a relative’s home.
Based cast on number and band height on the Harmonium Hat pattern, but had to add four stitches to go from a 4-stitch repeat to the 8-stitch pattern I chose (from Up, Down, All-Around Stitch Dictionary by Wendy Bernard). Worked until I had about 7-10 rounds of yarn left, then decreased to close the top, attempting to retain the same feel as the original stitch pattern.
A lightweight, Spring/Summer hat to keep one’s hair from blowing or to disguise a bad hair day.
