On the flight to visit mom for the holidays, I finished up a knitted knocker, and still had an hour or so left in the flight, so I thought about the yarns I’d brought, thought about the Wool-Ease colors I had in my carry-on, thought of the holidays coming up, and thought of a Christmas hat with trees around it for mom. I used my known gauge with this yarn, thought about how many trees would fit, imagined how many stitches wide they’d be at the base, and how they’d divide around the hat, and then got the yarn out of the overhead, and cast on. I believe it’s a cast on of 48 sts, and it’s a tubular CO. About a week later we drove to TN to her cabin, and maybe another week later I added a pom pom. I asked mom in FL which color she wanted for the pom pom, and she said the yellow and green, and I wasn’t sure, but by TN, I’d remembered how good her eye is, so I went with it, 50% of each, and it looked great. She was right again.
