Mochimochiland #knitballpit Balls

On January 3rd, Mochimochiland posted a pic of my little friends. They made it safely! Right after that, she stopped posting individual people's shipments, because there were too many. I just made the cutoff.
Mochimochiland said knit a ball pit, and I said okay!
This guy was knit on October 25, 2008, on US 2 needles, with the leftovers from the Bamboo Pop I got from one of my friends at our Knitted Knockers meetup. There wasn't enough left for a knocker, but there was enough for a couple of small knitballpit balls.
The second ball was knit the same day, but would not get a face until nearer to ship time, months later.
I had to wait somewhere in my truck the next day (the 26th), so I brought my other knitted knockers scrap, Cascade Ultra Pima cotton.
There was so little of this Ultra Pima left, that I ran out just past the halfway point :(
I decided to redo it on a size smaller needles. I think I did that one more time, too, going down one more size, to US 2, and still ran out!
Instead of giving up, or trying to go down to size 1, which I didn't have with me, I just used the other yarn I had with me, Fair Isle Harbor in White. I figured the ball could just have white hair :)
The bottom of this pattern is a lot more lumpy looking than the top.
Ball 3 I made out of the leftovers from the Pride Hat I made for my friend Timb (see my projects). This is a bulky yarn.
Ball 4 I made with the Ella Rae Chunky Merino Superwash leftovers from the 4 small stockings I made (see my projects). This was knit on US 9s.

I'm not counting the pink and blue balls in the numbering, because those are from months earlier, different pattern, just for fun, in Everyday Baby "Pink," and Caron One Pound "Grotto." You can also see the Hummingbird Moon (green/white/blue) ball from my Time Traveler Socks (see my projects).
I didn't measure beforehand, but after the 4th ball, I had 11g of Ella Rae Chunky Merino Superwash left.
Ball 5 I made right after ball 4, same yarn and needles, but I did a round of the same yarn in the green colorway, which I'd also used for the stockings. I had a couple of yards left, and thought I'd add a detail to use it up.
Top, nice and smooth.
Bottom, kinda lumpy. It's just the nature of increases (here) vs. decreases. I noticed the lumpy bottom on a bunch of other balls posted by Mochimochiland. It has me curious about smoother increases.
I ended up with about the same amount of each yarn, maybe a yard each, completely using up the 3 red skeins, and 1 green skein I had, and used for the Christmas stockings (see my projects).
Adding faces last-minute on December 24th, 2018! I brought the finished balls with me from Los Angeles to NJ to see dad's side of the family, then to FL to see mom, and then to TN to her cabin.
December 27th, 2018. I thought January 3rd was the absolute cut-off, so we shipped these this day. I think there were a few more days of buffer, though.
