Notes

This project was really a lot of fun. I loved playing with the colours, Bendigo wool is such a pleasure to work with and it was simple and fast--much faster than the dates would imply! I had almost all of the blocks made up to the third round on about the first weekend.

I originally wanted to do the joining colour in beige like in the fifth picture, but it just made the whole thing look too drab, so I switched to cream and I’m glad for it. I also tried out lots of borders as you can see but ended up going with something very simple: a row of granny clusters in cream, a row of dc in cream, a row of dc in beige, and a row of htr in cream.

Super happy and can’t wait to post it :D

I ended up making this pattern up because I wasn’t happy with any that I could find. All rounds end with a slip stitch into the first stitch of the round and this is in UK terms.

  • Starting ring: ch 3, join with a sl stitch to first ch
  • 1st round: 3ch (counts as first tr), then 11 tr into starting ring
  • 2nd round: 3ch (counts as first tr), then 2 tr into each stitch of 1st round with 1 ch spaces in between pairs of tr
  • 3rd round: 3ch (counts as first tr), then 3 tr into each space of 2nd round with 1 ch spaces in between triads of tr
  • 4th round: 4ch (counts as first dtr), 2 dtr, 2ch and 3 dtr into first space, 1ch for spacing, 3 tr into next space, 1 ch for spacing, 3 tr into next space, repeat, joining as you go to previous squares

Actually, flowers in the snow looks like a very similar pattern.
