Notes

Still trying to use up my STABLE of SABLE. I chose Wingspan because I have the amount of NORO King yarn needed & it will show the colorways.

This pattern is quick & easy.

I’m doing the angel version that creates a hole in-between the triangles/wings/wedges. Every 1st row of the pattern Sl1, K2, * YO, K 2 tog, K1* until you reach the Traveling Marker. Do rows 2, 3, & 4 the same as regular Wingspan.

One other pattern change that someone posted on rav. is do not slip the first stitch of the first row of the 16 cast on stitches at the beginning of each wing. This helps make a squarer corner edge.

I was troubled that the pattern is in sets of 3, but the 2nd & last row of the wings are NOT in sets of 3. 16 is not divisible by 3, but that’s the number of stitches counted. Turns out this is correct & you’re off 1 stitch the first & last rows of the wings.

7/27/12: Almost halfway through & I’m concerned I won’t have enough yarn. I have 500 yards & the angel version requires 475 - 525.

7/29/12: Finished 4 wings & have yarn left from first skein, so think I’ll have enough yarn to knit 4 more wings & the 4 or 5 row border.

Photo 5 shows how far 1 skein of NORO King yarn went. Four wings are halfway & I knit 28 rows past the 4th wing.

Finished & had plenty of yarn.
