12.12.12;
ghia measurements
collar to tail - 20”
chest - 22”
between arms - 4”
Most dog sweaters sizes are 16” (medium) and 24” (large) - ghia is 22 inches (headbang) Double stranding DK yarn and using larger needles and medium sizing.
gauge - 16 sts / 24 rows in 4” on US10 needles
need 22” (58 CO sts for medium; 82 sts for large)
medium = 16”, large = 24” … so to bring down can reduce by 8 sts from large size to create right size … i hope
yarn 50g / 160m (1.7637oz / 174.978 yards); double stranding - 4 skeins .. so have 175x2 = 350 yards
12.13.12 - got to the legs … oh Lordy but this pattern is written horribly .. and i’ve had to decipher a LOT of badly written patterns over the years .. Thank Goodness for ppl posting their notes or else I would still be scratching my head
12,14.12 (wee hours AM) - Ah bloody hell!!! took me long enough to figure out what end was up with this pattern. .. Thanx to Gina i did and i rather think i outsmarted myself. . Bloody thing is 24 1/2” around. . (censored remarks) time to rip it apart AGAIN. .. And go back to my origiinal plan of Large sze (16”) on US10 needles. ..
12 hrs later - looks WAY better, worked up to the point i was at last nite - measures 19.5” Just a matter of looser stitches or an added row along the chest seam to increase width - Going to wait until i’ve my paws on my friends dog before i ‘finish’ her coat
12.21.12 - cast off the body, just have to do the legs and wait til I Ghia gets here in order to size it on her .. it is sooooo cute!!! only saving grace of this pattern
12.23.12 - got the legs done up last nite, and today I got my paws on Ghia for a fitting .. I’ll have this complete tonite :) Cant wait to get a picture of her in this
all done . just need to put a few crochet stitches in to tighten the neck since Ghia’s a funky body shape b/c of her breed types (basset / bisson friche)
