Notes

I need a project bag, so I’m making one, :)

update Dec. 20
So far I have made what will be the bottom of the bag and the part that will be the side of it. I have stitched the hexagons together using a tutorial by Lucy, although I don’t do it on-the-go but stitch them using slip stitches.
There is a lot of work to be done left but I like how it’s turning out, it’s colourful and it will be big, ready to accomodate lots of yarns and projects!
Enough with the keyboard, back to the hook!

update 24 Dec.
The body of the bag is stitched together! After a crucial mistake in the assembly that involved some cursing and a lot of unstitching, now it has taken the form of a tote bag. I have finished stitching together the hexagons I have already and, although it needs another round (or another floor if you may), it already looks big, beautiful, spacious and colorful, exactly what I was aiming for!

update 26 Dec.
One more round is stitched on the bag. That is the last round I will add and now it’s time for the handles. Yes, it is even bigger, more spacious and colorful!

final update, 4 Jan 2012
The bag is finished! I feel so happy being able to hold it and store things in it. Big smile!
The bag is big and as Luz suggested, I would to do a lining in order to make it sturdier, a lining I would have to sew of course. I had no experience sewing anything and Luz-de-Luna kindly make a video to show me some basic backstitch and I got to practising. I made a lining for both the straps and the body of the bag out of an old shirt. The sewing took me a lot of time but I really enjoyed it as I was watching my project becoming even better and I was learning one more new skill (although making some backstitches doesn’t mean I learned the skill, but it’s a start). I even tried to do the sewing in the tips of the hexagons, following the shape, something that added more time needed for the completion of the project but made it look exactly as I wanted!
Tonight, the bag is ready, finally crocheted and stitched together! And I truly enjoy looking at her and using her! Thank you again Luz-de-Luna for all your support, ideas, leads, videos and comments!
