July 7th
I started it last night after I had decided to put another project aside for now. I liked this pattern and the name, seemed fun. It was going OK last night, I wasn’t crazy with the result but I decided to put it down, get some sleep and look at it in the morning. And it worked, I saw I had done some mistakes in previous rows and the result was uneven, not how it was supposed to look. So I took it with me at this new knitting meeting I attend at the Hornsey Library in N. London, I frogged it and started all over. It took me just about an hour to get where I was and I kept going, it’s going beautifully and really like the pattern (simple enough if you follow it carefully and not get absent minded). The yarn is lovely, both as a colour and a texture, really enjoy crocheting with it.

The main body is finished. Working from one end to the other half of it was increases and the other half decreases (ironically, when I was learning to crochet I kept decreasing by mistake, now I have to follow a pattern to decrease, but I guess that’s some kind of progress). Right now it’s long but not very deep, the next step is to work the edging to make it deeper and I have enough yarn to do the three row edging.

And the Shawlini is done! I spent my afternoon with it and a cup of tea by the window and finished the edging. I chose the three rows edging as I wanted to make it deeper, I had enough yarn for it and I think it looks lovely. The pattern is pretty simple and allows some additions (I didn’t do any but I will definitely do a couple when I do the shawl again), the yarn was a beauty, the photos don’t do justice to the true colour and that’s a shame (thank you again Luz-de-Luna for it!)

August 11th
I donated the Shawlini to the Tombola of The Nest Games 2012. I was so excited to see it won by the owner of the shop! She wore it all day, liked it a lot so I could boast about it around the shop!
