So far so good, I’m about half way through the first blanket, I’m using John’s digital scale to make sure I only use 20 grams of the 3rd ball, leaving 30 for the decrease.

yeah, that worked. not I ended up buying another ball each of the blue and green. The blue blanket is done but the hood is disproportionally small. So on the green one I’m making the hood with 45 stitches instead of 37.

So. the green one came out better I think, I used 3 balls of yarn on the increase and then used most of it up. woohoo I like the hood better with the 45 stitches, too.
