The source of inspiration for the cap clearly is an earlier one with lots of short rows that made it look like five caps stacked one upon another.
In this cap, all the three parts include short rows, & the two dark grey rolls are not parallel. It took some maths to calculate the last set of short rows in the top part in order to level the upper brim before the decreases.
Snug, which, imho, is the most important feature of any cap, & grey, which is an absolute pre-requisite for a cap to be elegant (to be decided by beholders).
