A spin-off of an earlier project cap_86 playing with short rows.

Technically, the cap consists of seven short-row sections in 2×2 ribbing: the bottom one 8…20 rows high, the five middle ones 3…15 rows high, while the top one, which merges with the crown, 0…12 rows high. Each section is turned by 3/7 of the full circle in relation to the previous one. Thus, after all seven sections, the height of the cap is uniform around the perimeter.
Between the short-row sections, there are six rolls of 20…25 rows in stocking stitch, the purl side exposed.
The wave of the top roll is unintentional: the coupled decreases distorted it at places where there are no short rows. Since it looked sort of funky, I decided to leave it as it is.
And the most important feature: the cap is snug.
